Bob and Alice met the first week Alice came to Ball State. As a freshman, she moved into Knotts Hall which was above Edwards Hall in the Lafollette Complex which Bob had moved into as a sophomore. They met on the first Friday night at Hazelwood Christian Church which served a meal because dorms did not serve meals on Friday evening. Two years later, they started dating in the spring of 1969.
Bob graduated in 1970 and took a job teaching math and physics at Brownsburg High School. Alice was assigned her student teaching that fall at Brownsburg. Only her supervising teacher and the chemistry teacher who shared a classroom with Bob knew Bob and Alice were dating. (They traveled out of town to date.) Alice finished her student teaching in November and before Christmas, Bob asked her to marry him. They got engaged on Monument Circle in Indy. They were married June 19, 1971, at Alice's home church in North Salem, IN, at 2:27 p.m.

Alice received her B.S. from BSU in 1971 and her M.A. from Butler University in 1974. She did additional graduate work at Indiana University and in 2001 became Accredited in Public Relations, APR.
Bob received his B.S. from BSU in 1970. Bob received his M.A.T. from Purdue University in 1974. Bob also has 30+ hrs. from universities across the country through on-line classes and workshops in physics and technology.
The first year we were married Alice substituted for over 100 days in six public schools of Hendricks County. She began teaching government and a variety of other social studies classes in 1972 at Danville High School and graduated the classes of 1973 through 1978.
In the Spring of 1990 Alice started working for Shank Public Relations in Indianapolis. In 2004 she became the community relations administrator and a member of the media team at Indianapolis Power and Light until she retired in 2010.
Bob taught math and physics at Brownsburg HS for 20 years. In 1978 he asked for a computer for his physics classroom and in 1982 he was given the task of initiating the schools computer program. In 1990, Bob moved into the position of Director of Technological Services and led the computer program until he retired in 2010. It was really two careers which overlapped but only required filling out a job application once.
Bob and Alice started married life in a small 2 bdrm apt. The second year they rented a log cabin in Avon. When the rent went up, they bought their first house on Wall St. Pike (200N) where they added a master suite and bath. When their family expanded, they moved to a two story on Richwood Dr. In 2020 they "flatsized" and moved to a lovely one story home with a large garage and bonus room over the garage. If a bird flew sequentially from their first apartment to each successive abode, the total mileage for the flight to five houses would be 7.8 miles.
Bob roomed with Bob Lynn his first year in Brownsburg and then Alice moved into this two bedroom apt. when they got married and Bob Lynn moved out.
In 1973, Alice and Bob moved to this two BR home in the country (now part of Avon) and had a large woods and garden.
When the rent went up on their cabin, Bob and Alice bought a 900 s.f. home with walkout basement. They finished the basement and later added a master bedroom suite with bathroom.
After a few years, our family moved to our first subdivision into a 3 bdrm, two story house in a woods with basement. We added on a sun room with a hot tub and then Bob and Alice built a large deck after the kids had left home.
In 2020, Bob and Alice "flatsized" to a house where the laundry was not two floors from the bedroom. They are currently landscaping the home with a new patio, grill, and and water feature which Bob designed.
Next time Bob and Alice downsize, they hope it will be someplace warm, beautiful and convenient.
