Places we love to visit
The Smoky Mountains
Alice and Bob love to visit the Smoky Mountains and Blue Ridge Areas. Visiting Banner Elk is a favorite stop.
Florida Beaches
We also like to schedule our winters so that we spend a few weeks in Florida instead of in the winter snow in Indiana.
Alaska - Cruise and Ground
Our second favorite place would be Alaska, both on a cruise to the Inner Passage as well as on the ground and visits to Denali.
40th Anniversary - 2011
A Mediterranean Cruise
We flew into Italy
We flew to Rome early before taking a cruise. Our days in Rome were great and you could travel around easily by foot or transit. We had emailed a local hotel ahead of time and the manager was very helpful. Picture is Amalfi Coastline.
Took a cruise
We took a cruise and traveled the Mediterranean. This was our first trip to Europe and we got to go into Asia. Lots of history to see. We went to the bazaar in Istanbul and that was quite an experience.
Saw some amazing things
We saw Athens and traveled up the Bosphorus, saw the Blue Mosque and toured the Hagia Sophia museum. We also saw Santorini, Mykonos, Ephesus, and Pompeii. We hired a personal guide for two days so we could be more specific on what we wanted to see versus taking cruise ship excursions.
2007 Travel to Singapore and Bali
While Jim and Libby were overseas, we visited them.
We flew to Singapore
Our flight to Singapore went through Frankfort, Germany. Bob watched out the window and told Alice they had been to Europe. Singapore was English speaking making it easier to visit.
Wood Carving in Bali
We flew to Bali and stayed at a great private villa. During the day we toured and saw many things. We came home with a suitcase full of wood carvings.

We saw poverty and smiles in the people. They might have a business and work in a three sided shed making tourist trinkets and when they got 50 made, they paid somebody down the road for a few minutes of internet time and sold their product on-line.

Drive or Fly
We have traveled with Bob's parents to the east coast in their pop up camper and followed brother Jerry and parents on a trip to Yellowstone and other National Parks with their RV. We have traveled with Gladys to Florida. We have traveled with family as the kids grew up to the coast and mountains. Alice and Bob have traveled to Alaska, New Mexico and Arizona, West Coast, East Coast, Toronto, and most states in between. When we have the time, we enjoy a good road trip.
When you get to water, cruise
Over the years, we have made several cruises with family and friends. Our last cruise was in Nov of 2019. We took our families to the Caribbean. This tradition was started when our parents took us and our kids on cruises with them. We have traveled to the Mediterranean, Alaska, Panama Canal, and many times to various Caribbean Islands.
